Work / Employer visa

 

There are a range of work visas, some which offer immediate permanent residence and others which are temporary that usually lead to permanent residence.

 

Below is a summary of the most common work visas:

 

1. Temporary Business (subclass 457) visa

 

This is a usually a four (4) year temporary work visa, which may lead to permanent residence after 2 years.

 

2. Employer Sponsored (subclass 856) visa

 

This is a permanent work visa, usually for applicants that have held a temporary visa for 2 years, or that have qualifications and work experience

 

3. Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 857) visa

 

This is a permanent work visa, similar to Employer Nominated Scheme but with concessions for applicants that are prepared to work in regional Australia for a prescribed period

 

4. Working Holiday (subclass 417) Visa

 

For 18 – 30 year people from certain countries to travel and work for 12 months, with an option to extend for a further 12 months.
